ThinkingPets proudly presents a two day seminar with Professor Raymond Coppinger.

Professor Coppinger majored in literature and philosophy at Boston University. His PhD thesis in biology (at the University of Massachusetts) is on the effect of experience and novelty on avian feeding behavior. He lectures around the world and organizes research on animal behaviour, especially the behaviour of canines. Ray (and his colleagues and students) have published over fifty papers on his dog research. His latest book, co-authored with his wife Lorna Coppinger, is DOGS: A Startling New Understanding of Canine Origin, Behavior, and Evolution. Come and join ThinkingPets for this exciting event!

Day 1: Behavioural ecology of the dog and the evolution of shape
Day 2: Behavioural conformation, basic ethology (intrinsic, accommodative and emergent behaviour)

Dates: 7 & 9 August 2010
Time: 9am – 5pm
Venue: TBC

Cost: R550 per person, per day
The cost includes catering

EXCLUSIVE: Spend a morning with Ray observing and discussing village dog behaviour on the 8th of August, 2010.  This includes visiting informal settlements to study the dogs.  A security firm will accompany us on the visit. ONLY TEN SPACES AVAILABLE. R550 per person. Transport will be provided. First come, first serve and payment secures your place in this once in a lifetime event.
