Ixopo – King’s Grant Country Retreat
Experience the charm and ambience of King’s Grant, the historic mission station, situated on a farm close to Ixopo, that has been lovingly restored and refurbished as an enchanting country retreat. Guests are accommodated in individually decorated guestrooms, all en-suite, with private patios, DSTV bouquet, tea trays with homemade biscuits, fans, heaters & electric blankets.
Nestled in the heart of the St Isidor valley and surrounded by lush farmlands and dams with prolific birdlife, King’s Grant offers guests the opportunity to bring their dog to doggie heaven! Go for long walks, throw sticks for them to fetch in the dam or relax on the lawns of the indigenous gardens, soaking up the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity and returning home refreshed and invigorated.
PET POLICY: All well-behaved dogs welcome all year round although only three of our units are petfriendly so prior arrangements must be made. Dogs sleep inside; bring own dog beds, bedding & bowls. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture and must be free of ticks and fleas on arrival and must have proof of rabies inoculations. Small garden (not enclosed yet) with easy access to walks on the farm. Pets to stay on leash when on walks but can swim in the dam freely as long as they don’t chase the water birds! Consideration must be given to the owner’s dogs that are present during the day, the farm animals and the birdlife and wildlife. Please note that this is a beef farm and as a result there is always the possibility of dogs picking up ticks during their walks. Please check them before bringing them into the room or before returning home. CHARGE for Pets: R50 per pet per day. Doggie/Pet Damages Deposit Required: R500 refundable.
Horses are also welcome and can be accommodated in the paddock within a 100m of the accommodation. Horses may be ridden on a number of the farm roads on the property but please be very cautious when riding in grasslands due to the many ant-bear holes!
All guestrooms are equipped with DSTV Bouquet, tea trays and each has a private patio. Please note that we are able to convert a number of the twin beds into kingsize beds.
