11 Karkloof is an ideal base from which to explore the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. There are seven self-catering houses providing the perfect venue for large groups of people.
The houses are private and situated on a 21ha farm, 6km from Howick on the Karkloof road. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and boasting the best cycle tracks in the country, this is an ideal venue for cycling enthusiasts, as well as those wanting to relax and unwind.
We provide 100% cotton bedding as well as bath towels, and the fully equipped kitchens are ideal for self-catering. There are also braai facilities.
There is no TV but plenty of activities are on offer in the surrounding area.
The houses may be booked separately or booked together for large groups of people.
Bring your bicycles when you come and stay – we are in the heart of the best single track in Southern Africa. Explore the hundreds of kilometres of off-road tracks in the beautiful Karkloof countryside.
We are right next door to La Petite Frace where handmade cheeses, from the milk of their grass-fed, happy cows are produced and can be bought in their farm shop.
The beautiful Karkloof Nature Reserve and the Umngeni Valley Nature Reserve are nearby, where you can go for walks and enjoy a picnic.
Bird lovers must visit the Krane Conservation Centre – a bird sanctuary where there are hides for viewing and photographing the birds.
Karkloof has a number of waterfalls, 2 of them being Karkloof Falls and Grey Mares Tail, Karkloof’s best kept secret. They are the most beautiful settings for picnics at the river and walks through the indigenous forests.
The very popular Karkloof Canopy Tours are a mere 10km up the road.
Take a drive to Terbodore, who are artisan coffee roasters.
The Karkloof Farmer’s Market is open from 07h00 to 11h00 every Saturday morning, just 2km away.
Being in the heart of the KZN Midlands, world class restaurants, wine tasting, golf, spas, horse-riding, art galleries and artisans are all in close proximity.
PET POLICY: All dogs and caged birds welcome all year round. Pets sleep inside; bring own pet beds, bedding & bowls. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture and must be free of ticks and fleas. Easy access to walks with farmland to explore. Consideration must be given to resident dogs and cats. Pets stay FREE. Doggie Damages Deposit required: NONE.
